Cerelink
is a cloud computing provider to the motion picture
industry. We provide private clouds for rendering
and for other content creation/ management applications.
Cerelink is able to offer a cost effective, secure
combination of data center space, scalable high performance
computing and networking in the form of Infrastructure-as-a-Service
(IaaS) and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS).
Besides cloud computing, Cerelink can provide its
customers with on-demand access to high performance
computing (HPC) services on world class supercomputing
infrastructure, thanks to our collaboration with the
New Mexico Computing Applications Center and other
technology partners. Cerelink is based in New Mexico,
which affords our customers--especially in digital
media-- several cost savings: cheaper power and data
center space, access to competitively priced ultra
fast broadband networks and a 25% cash-back rebate
on all motion picture production (including rendering)
done in New Mexico.
Cerelink at Siggraph
Cerelink’s Chief Technology officer Bruce Moxon
and Vice President of Sales John Olson are attending
Siggraph , the annual conference for computer graphic
professionals. (July 26-29th) held this year in Los
Angeles. Siggraph is widely considered the most prestigious
forum for the publication of computer graphics research.
The Cerelink team will use the forum to learn and
to meet with existing and potential customers in the
digital motion picture industry.
Cloud Computing for the Motion Picture
Industry
In June, 2010, Cerelink and Dreamworks Animation SKG
signed a multi-year agreement to use elastic, on demand
cloud computing for motion picture rendering. (Read
More Here). This agreement culminates a year-long
collaboration between the two companies that proved
up the remote rendering technology that connects DreamWorks’
artists in Los Angeles with Cerelink equipment in
New Mexico over an ultra-fast broadband network. During
the past year, DreamWorks rendered portions of its
Shrek Forever After and How to Train Your Dragon features
on our servers in new Mexico.
Ed Leonard, DreamWorks Chief technology Officer, called
the collaboration “a huge success, working proof
that high performance computing clouds are not only
possible but practical…the future of rendering.”
Cerelink is first-to-market in using private cloud
computing for motion picture rendering. Besides DreamWorks,
we are working with other studios and special effects
producers to expand our market share in this niche.
